Quake 1.5 is a fan modification inspired by the success of Brutal Doom, based on the first part of Quake.
The storyline carefully preserves the iconic premise of a nameless soldier fighting his way through dark dimensions. As before, he must clear ancient castles of hordes of monsters, but the experience itself feels different. The gameplay has been transformed into an incredibly brutal, spectacular, and dynamic action game, where familiar monster-shooting is taken to the extreme. The physics have been updated, and the weapons have been redesigned. This mod emphasizes blood, gore, and various special effects. The developer has added two new weapons, modified the textures for all existing ones, and changed the mechanics of enemy defeat. Most enemies remain the same, with only their appearances changed, but additional bosses have also been added. The levels themselves have been visually updated, with new textures and effects such as rain, lightning flashes, and earthquakes
